Celebrating 30 Years of Significant Conservation
Thursday, May 22, 2014 (World Biodiversity Day)
Canada Southern Railway Station, St. Thomas, Ontario
Sponsored by Conservation Ontario, Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority,
and Ministry of Natural Resources
Join the Celebration!
Deep South Bus Tour: Join us on the Carolinian Canada time travel bus to explore a slice of Canada’s Deep South in the Elgin Greenway: discover what became of critical unprotected sites of 30 years ago; meet significant partners in today’s Big Picture biodiversity hotspots; and learn where visions for a sustainable green future are sprouting behind the scenes of the Elgin Natural Heritage Inventory.
Big Picture Stories. Local. Wild. Inspiring. Our speakers will weave an inspirational collection of personal short stories connecting people and experiences through the evolution of a trailblazing conservation community.
Launch of 30 / 30 Passport & Challenge: The celebration doesn’t stop here… We’re launching a Carolinian Canada Passport highlighting significant sites, tours, events, projects and partners over a year, starting in May. Or go extreme green by setting your own 30 / 30 challenge. Do you want to ID 300 species in Carolinian Canada this year? Plant 30 wildflowers? Walk, cycle or paddle 30 or 300 km of trails? What will you do? Nominate your site or event for the 30/30 Passport at network@carolinian.org.
2014 Carolinian Canada Conservation Awards: Celebrate local conservation heroes and recognize outstanding contributions of people who protect Carolinian Canada's unique nature at the Carolinian Canada Coalition Conservation Awards. Congratulate the 2014 award recipients at the reception after the ceremony.
Conservation Information Fair: The day will conclude with an information fair showcasing the exciting projects of Carolinian Canada and our partners. Stroll through the exhibits and meet Carolinian Canada staff and partners and learn what you can do to support conservation programs in your area. Limited exhibitor spaces are available, please direct enquiries to Dee Crilly at network@carolinian.org.
