Public transit is a key player in a sustainable, active, and accessible transportation system. Buses can move more people which reduces the number of vehicles on the road, and with efforts in electrification and more frequent transit, it can do this more efficiently with way less greenhouse gas emissions than cars. According to the London Transit Commission, ridership in the city grew by 23% from 2009 to 2018 - reaching 23.7 million rides in 2018! It’s clear that public transit is essential to sustainable development in cities.
