Port Burwell Provincial Park

Located on the Norfolk Sand Plain, Port Burwell Provincial Park is one of the best Parks for witnessing spring migrations of songbirds and fall migrations of raptors, monarch butterflies, blue jays and dragonflies. The Park’s steep bluffs shelter stands of oak and maple. At the base of the bluffs are ribbons of dunes, beach savanna, and meadow.  Some of the trees in the park are estimated to be 200 years old and approach three feet in diameter.

The 2km Beach Trail traverses a 20 metre bluff, leading from the campground to the beach, providing an excellent view out over Lake Erie. The 1km Ravine Creek Trail provides an interpretive self-guiding brochure, and travels through a ravine and woodlot.  Eleven stops along the trail explain local geology, flora and fauna.
