Long Point Provincial Park

Jutting out into Lake Erie, Long Point is a sandspit approximately 40 km long and 1 km wide.

Long Point is a birding hotspot, particularly during spring or fall migration because from the tip, there is only a short flight over open water. In the fall, birds and butterflies will gather along the shore at places like Long Point and Point Pelee, waiting for the perfect wind to take them across the lake.

In August and September, tens of thousands of monarchs rest here before they take off for the warm wintering grounds of Mexico.  Long Point Provincial Park is located near the base of the tip, and is accessible via the Long Point Causeway, a stretch of road connecting the sandspit to mainland.
