Holiday Beach Conservation Area

Located six kilometres down river from the Big Creek Conservation Area at the mouth of Big Creek, Holiday Beach Conservation Area provides public access to a long sandy beach on Lake Erie’s shore.

Along with Big Creek, Holiday Beach has also been designated an IBA of global significant.  In addition, Audubon Magazine has identified Holiday Beach Conservation Area as one of the top sites for raptor migration in all of North America!

Holiday Beach and Big Creek Marsh Conservation Areas are located on a migratory route, at the bottom end of a “funnel” that is created by the Great Lakes.  Rather than flying over the open water of the Great Lakes, many birds will choose to cross at the Detroit River before setting off in a broader southern (in the fall) or northern (in the spring) movement.
