Aylmer Wildlife Management Area

Purchased in 1962 in an effort to create habitat for waterfowl and hunting and viewing opportunities for the public, Aylmer Wildlife Management Area attracts a large number of Tundra Swans.  Shallow artificial ponds and hedgerows have been installed and part of the site has been planted with crops to attract swans and other fowl to the site (and to keep them off neighbouring farms).  One-day peak counts of Tundra Swans have ranged from 500 to 12,000 birds.
