CCC’s major, indeed fundamental, role and contribution since its incorporation, has been to link and coordinate programs and activities relating to its basic mission of biodiversity conservation. This focus on cooperation and conservation originated prior to incorporation and was formerly promulgated, I believe, as a result of the planning study done by Ron Reid and Ric Sims in the late 1990s.
Cooperation has long been associated with CCC’s work in representing and planning for a highly threatened ecoregion through initiatives such as The Big Picture which set out a model for cooperation among organizations with interests in biodiversity and environmental conservation generally. Through its cooperative approach and focus on the Carolinian Canada Ecoregion, CCC has and should continue to make a unique contribution to its home area and offer a useful model for other regions.
