The Carolinian Canada Coalition 2014 Annual General Meeting will take place on May 22, 2014 in St. Thomas and we are looking forward to a very exciting event. We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Carolinian Canada Coalition with a full day of activities.
Carolinian Canada will be transitioning to the new Canada Not for Profit Corporations Act and will be presenting Articles of Continuance and a proposed By-Law No. 1 for approval by special resolution of Carolinian Canada Coalition Membership during the Annual General Meeting. All material pertaining to the AGM and the Transition Documents are available at caroliniancanada.ca
The day’s events will also include:
- A bus tour through Central Elgin showcasing what has become of the critical unprotected sites identified 30 years ago. Meet significant partners in today’s Big Picture biodiversity hotspots.
- The launch of our exciting new 30 for 30 campaign celebrating the significant conservation contributions Carolinian Canada has made over the past 30 years through events, stories and challenges.
- The 2014 Carolinian Canada Conservation Awards recognizing the local conservation heroes and the outstanding contributions of people who protect Carolinian Canada's unique nature.
- The Conservation Information Fair showcasing the exciting projects underway in the Carolinian Life Zone.

Grow Wild! Boot Camps STUDENT TEAMS PROMOTE HEALTHY HABITATS Find Out More Take an idea and run with it! That’s what over 70 high school students are doing as a result of our Grow Wild! Boot Camps. Through these one-day workshops, we challenge students to come up with their own ideas to promote healthy habitats. Building signs for turtle crossings, creating pollinator habitat and encouraging responsible ATV use are some of the projects now in the works. Teaching the Next Generation to Live in the Carolinian Zone: The Jaffa Environmental Education Centre

Designed for teaching and learning, this brightly coloured interactive exhibit at Thames Valley District School Board's Jaffa Environmental Education Centre south of Aylmer has dioramas that take students and teachers to a Carolinian forest, wetland and tallgrass prairie.
More than 100 individuals and organizations have supported the exhibit financially and by sharing their expertise, and Carolinian Canada staff were on-site to help celebrate the opening of this amazing exhibit.
The exhibit is filled with hands-on activities that give students and teachers the opportunity to learn about the area and the need to protect it, says Environmental Educator Johanne Beasley.

Groundbreaking Migration Tracking April, Canada Bird Studies Canada Click Here to Learn More Bird Studies Canada is participating in one of the most groundbreaking developments in migration research - The MOTUS Wildlife Tracking System enables researchers to track radio-tagged birds real-time with unprecedented precision. Over 200 automated radio telemetry stations will be setup in southern Ontario and Atlantic Canada this spring. Great Lakes Water Quality and Ecosystem Health Agreement Review and Comment by July 3ed, Ontario Government of Ontario Read the Policy Proposal The Ministries of Environment, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Food, and Rural Affairs have completed negotiations with the federal government on a proposed 8th Canada-Ontario Agreement on Great Lakes Water Quality and Ecosystem Health (COA). COA is the principle mechanism through which Ontario and Canada coordinate their work to address their respective and shared commitments to protect the Great Lakes. Also, Volunteer at Celebration Forest planting memorial trees, at Rosecliffe Park to plant 500 trees with sponsors, and Reservoir Park with Trails Open London to plant over 400 native trees and shrubs.
