"As a network, we are looking forward to gathering a diverse group of speakers who can speak to their lived experience work environment justice and the intersection with cultural understanding. With such a strong opening of this year's Forum Series, with the introduction of safe and ethical space, we want to keep inviting everyone in the conservation sector, and beyond, to hear from voices in the field. Our speakers are all working on the front lines of caring for the land and will share how this work is being done as folx identifying as Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. We hope you join us and hear these inspirational leaders share their journey so we can continue to learn together. As a participant in this session, you will have the opportunity to see how biodiversity loss is interconnected to cultural and racial equity. We have members of the community from different walks of life, providing insights into how the work of climate action, food sovereignty, policy-making, ecological restoration can be improved when we include more diverse voices and perspective into the movement. Each participant will have an opportunity to hear from our speakers and also have some small group discussion to dig deeper into the challenges and solutions. We hope you will join us for this important conversation." - André Vashist, The Importance of Intersectionality in Environmentalism Event Coordinator |
