Tracking the Big Picture: Ecological Change in Carolinian Canada

November 5th, 2013, Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton, ON

Early bird registration ends October 11th. Register today!

Monitoring is an important part of conservation efforts – it generates the information we need to measure success and respond to the unexpected.   But ecological monitoring is no easy feat.  It is challenging to find capacity for effective, long-term monitoring programs.

For this reason, at this year’s Ecosystem Recovery Forum, Carolinian Canada and the Royal Botanical Gardens have brought together conservation practitioners from across the Carolinian zone and beyond to share:

  • The “Big Picture” story of our Carolinian landscape;
  • Successes and challenges of ecological monitoring;
  • Who is monitoring what;
  • What is being done with the data;
  • How we can work together to be more effective.

The Forum will explore the rapid advances in remote sensing tools, the flowering of citizen science initiatives, the monitoring of rare species populations and habitats, and many other related topics, in a concurrent session format.
